Historic New York Farmhouse

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The initial focus of the renovation and design started with the crux of the home, the kitchen. With its double vaulted workspace & large dining area, we wanted the kitchen to feel inviting and warm, while keeping the space highly efficient and durable in order to lend itself to a busy growing family with lots of meal prep.

These elements extended into the other spaces, with a focus on honoring the historic components of the home, from the fieldstone fireplace; the stones of which were sourced throughout the property, to the comforting den where the owner did his homework as a child.

The screened in porch is key for entertaining; with both a seating and dining area, the space is suitable for a variety of gatherings and mosquito-free evenings while you watch the cows graze on the pastures below. When the weather turns cold, the dining room offers spacious comfort next to the kitchen’s wood burning stove.

Wherever you navigate through this old farmhouse, the feeling of home follows you, which was the only requirement the owners brought to us at the beginning of the project.
