Berkshire Modern Lake house

ABOUT THE PROJECT

This house was recently featured in Architectural Digest for its radical transformation to a light airy home for entertaining on Lake Windemere.
Our design team felt very strongly that the kitchen needed to be relocated. This decision to create a large center island where the dining room once was located and treat the current kitchen as a pantry opened up the whole center space. We then created a large open space for entertaining, dining and work all around the new kitchen.

The dark wood beams were painted to blend with the walls and the brick was removed in some areas and painted over in others. Adding in pops of color in carefully chosen locations brought whimsy and charm.
Concrete tiles, organic wood shelving and new oak flooring brought in the warmth they were craving while keeping the space light and bright and fresh.

The final touch was a 19’ custom millwork unit installed in the living area with a sliding screen to cover the television and sliding open when needed . A desk area was added for their teenage sons to work on a laptop and much needed closed storage for games and books. The final layer of furnishings with the same elements of wood and pops of organic color completed this amazing space and gave it new life.
